Brian Jones' Uranus
(by Nick Kollerstrom)
View Chart
Brian Jones formed the Rolling Stones in January-February 1962 at his
Uranus square return (+3º), and remained in it for seven years, quiting
the group in June, 1969 on his Uranus-trine return (also +3º). Natally
he had Algol ('Medusa's head') conjunct Uranus, the latter stationary.
Jagger has his natal Moon conjunct Algol so the two had a Mars-moon
synastry over Algol. Jones had a tight Mars-Uranus conjunction on Algol
(the "Medusa's Head") - as Keith Richards had a close Mars-Uranus
conjunction on Aldebaran (the 'Bull's Eye'): the star-power of the Rolling
Stones group. Jones' demise, in his own swimming-pool at 10 o'clock
July 2nd, saw Venus conjunct Algol to the arcminute, conjunct the IC,
and Neptune in opposition to Algol within half a degree.

Best has taken a conjectural early-evening time of 7pm. Our expert,
Mr John Etherington, won't be quite agreeing with this…
John Etherington runs Midheaven
Bookshop. He has a particular interest in the charts of musicians,
and has previously given talks at the Astrological Lodge on the charts
of Marvin Gaye and George Harrison. He has also lectured for the FAS
Summer School at Brasenose College Oxford, on the charts of the Beach
Boys, as well as Nick Drake, Tim & Jeff Buckley, and Arthur Lee.
His musical articles published include The Astrology of Live Aid (Lodge
Quarterly), Leonard Cohen (Apollon Journal), and Brian Wilson (Mountain
Astrologer). His first major rock concert was the Stones in the Park
in 1969!
