| Writers' Guidelines | Archives | Articles | Book Reviews Here, There & Everywhere - Charles Carter(An excerpt from The Astrologers Quarterly, Volume 36, No.4, December 1962)This is not only an interesting figure; it is also a not unpromising one. At London the Sun is exactly rising in trine to Uranus. Surely this must be distinctly favourable to British interests and (unlikely though this may seem at the time of writing) it should add to our influence and prestige. The Moon is on the M.C. in Scorpio, trine Jupiter and sextile Sun and Uranus. Unfortunately the excellent things this formation should indicate will be severely restricted or retarded by a close square to Saturn. Matters should improve, especially in trade and finance, but not all dramatically. Mercury is very strong. A conjunction of Venus and Neptune in Scorpio, either in 10th or 11th according to the method of house division used, is not so easy to interpret. I suppose the old astrologers would have predicted "scandals involving high born ladies" or something of the kind. Financial scandals are certainly likely to occur. Readers of my notes will recall that I suspect the position of Mars at the winter ingress to be specially important, maybe because he is exalted in Capricorn. In this case the planet in 24:41 Leo, quintile the Moon. It is not too well placed in respect of Her Majesty's geniture and it is good that it has no adverse contacts. It is nearly stationary. It will make three transits to the place of the Aquarius eclipse and it will be interesting to note if that phenomenon is still near enough to be activated. Locus: 15.43 Aquarius. To look much nearer in time - in fact only a week from the time this is being written- there is the opposition Mars Saturn, Leo-Aquarius; this falls close to the conjunction of the same planets at the eclipse in February. In the map of the Chinese People's Republic the Moon is in 3 Aquarius, and in that of the Republic of India the Sun is in 5 Aquarius. It would appear that trouble between these two nations is very seriously threatened, as indeed is already apparent. We have now three great floods to chronicle - Hamburg, Barcelona and Oregon. Not to mention earthquakes. It is a pity so much publicity was given to the Indian saddhus who foretold the end of the world and so brought ridicule on Astrology, those these people were not, so far as I know, astrologers at all. Had equal publicity been given to the predictions of serious astrologers, which have been so remarkably and tragically fulfilled, it might have had some propaganda value. But those whose ideas are derived from physics will never understand that events foreshadowed in the heavens do not necessarily take place at once. More often a subsequent transit, especially by Mars, will indicate the exact time of incidence. I do not know what rules Barcelona nor do I know what map should be taken for the present Spanish regime, which seems to be a sort of suspended monarchy. However, the map of the Spanish Republic has Neptune in 3 Virgo which received the impact of the Jupiter-Uranus opposition of October 8. The Republic may be extinct, but points in its horoscope may well be common to other still valid maps. |
