Astrology and the Healing Arts 2005
Interestingly, Hatha yoga is the most popular form of yoga in the West; 'Ha' means 'Sun; and 'tha' means 'Moon': 'Yoga' means 'union': Thus we, as astrologers, already have a conjunction of the 'The Lights' and the two great dynamic principles of the chart to work with. And while astrologers may be used to looking at the planets and signs academically, in this talk we will also learn to approach our 'inner' Sun, Moon and Stars through breath-work, visualisation, posture, and mudra. We will also look at the horoscopes of well-known Yoga teachers and practitioners. Multimedia astrologer, writer and lecturer, Laura Boomer-Trent, a once disco-babe with an arts background and an earlier career in the film and television, has been involved with the astrological world for over twenty years. Her mentor, the co-founder of the Centre of Psychological Astrology, the late Howard Sasportas, was a great guiding spirit who taught Laura the art of synthesising humanistic, psychological astrology in the Western Tradition. Since studying at the 'Tibetan Medical and Astro-Science Institute' in India in 1996, Laura now integrates yogic, astrological teachings of the Eastern astrological healing arts (Tibetan, Indian and Chinese) with the practical teleology of modern astrology. Laura most recently co-authored 'Your Birthday Through Time' published by Simon and Schuster. She currently writes for American Astrology Research, is the astro-agony aunt at www.yourastrologysite.com, and runs an active consultation practice. During the dotcom boom Laura was Editorial Director for World Interactive Television, where site she designed, wrote, and recorded for www.liveastro.com, (later sold to Microsoft for Russell Grant's UK horoscope site). On MTV in the early-nineties, though the medium of music and dance, Laura explored her love of celestial mechanics with the Sushumna Dance Ritual Theatre. Over the years her interest in the mind-body-spirit pathway has developed as she is now presenting her research on Astrology and Yoga, which, quite apart from her cat, husband, and precious dharma teachers, are her two main passions (not listed in any order!). She also produces and facilitates interactive healing workshops that include Astrology, Yoga, Dance, Reiki, crystal healing, chakra alignment, Ayurveda, Mandala Meditations. She is currently writing her first novel. Astrology and the Healing Arts 2005 |
