Spring Seminar 2007 - Building a Better World?

A whole day seminar exploring various aspects of mundane astrology and how we fit into the grander scheme of things.

Sunday 4th March 2007

Our Speakers are:

Darby Costello
Jenni Harte
Jamie McPhail
Claire Chandler

As the material under consideration is highly topical the speakers have kept their titles as open as possible and will decide on the exact material they will cover nearer the date of the seminar.

Darby Costello

Crossing the Threshold:
Navigating the Saturn-Neptune Opposition

The Saturn in Leo - Neptune in Aquarius opposition reflects the consistent chord in our society today of anxiety, mistrust of authority, and general cynicism about anyone's motives for doing good. This talk will include discussion of the Saturn-Neptune cycle, to find information as to how we might navigate the energy it represents. For those with planets in roughly the last third of the fixed signs, this is a significantly potent time. As we ride towards the future in this wild water time, this particularly uncomfortable opposition demands a reshaping of our personal and individual lives so to better inhabit the emerging new communities that are shaping the world.

Darby Costello has been an astrologer for more than half her life. She lives in London and has been teaching for the Centre for Psychological Astrology since 1988. She also teaches at the Faculty of Astrological Studies and the London School of Astrology and is a visiting lecturer at several schools in Europe. She has written several books and has recently completed the Masters Degree program in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology at Bath Spa University. She enjoys the vitality of the astrological world with its many communities in different lands. Above all, her consultation practice is at the heart of her working life. Her website can be found at www.darbycostello.co.uk.

Transitions

Where are we and were do we think we’re going?

Jenni Dean Harte, a student of astrology since the 1960’s in Greenwich Village, NY and a Nichiren Buddhist since 1973, has been studying and working with astrology in England for many years with a special interest in mundane astrology. The author of the Astrological Association’s World News column in Transit since 1997, and a popular speaker, her fascination with modern world affairs is the dynamic behind her investigation and often irreverent reports of current events and news headlines.

Jamie Macphail

The Middle East, Crisis or Resolution?

The problems found in the Middle East cast their shadows across the world and any plans for the future must take this region into account.

Jamie Macphail is an astrologer based in Bristol who specialises in mundane astrology. His latest book is Astrology and the Causes of War published by
Wessex Astrologer.

Claire Chandler

Conservation of Energy?

Modern society is based upon plentiful, cheap energy. Will this continue to be a sound premise?

Claire Chandler is the President of the Astrological Lodge of London and a previous editor of Astrology Quarterly. She currently writes a mundane column, Mundane Matters, for Astrology Quarterly. Her website can be found at www.clairechandler.com

There will also be a final session at the end of the day with all four speakers
to share conclusions and ideas.
