Finding of New Planet, Sedna, by NASA 2004 |
||
| A new planet has been discovered beyond Pluto this week (albeit astronomers and astrologers have been saying there is another planet for some time). It has been named, Sedna - and I thought I would share a few details. Sedna is the name of an Inuit Goddess - a Goddess of the Sea - you can read more about her on the website . It is quite a fascinating myth more so as she rewards people of the land with food from the sea. Sedna appears to have been found in the sign of Taurus (17 degrees and 52') which is very apt for a goddess who bestows food. Plus Venus and the North node are presently quite close. Neptune is also squaring Sedna - and she is a goddess of the sea. Fascinating. It appears she was the only daughter of a widowed father who married her off to an allegedly handsome man who promised her a life of luxury (Taurean again) only to find out that he was really a bird and his home was a horrible nest. Her father who then was filled with remorse for forcing his daughter to marry - went and found her. It appears that on the journey home - her fingers became frozen and her father cut them off and as they fell into the sea they became whales and seals and other sea creatures. On returning home she descended into the Inuit concept of the underworld where she rules over the dead. Reading the legend on a deeper level - there are echoes of the Egyptian goddess Isis and I was told years ago at the Lodge that if a planet was ever discovered beyond Pluto it would be called Isis.! It is stated that we have to look at events on our Planet when considering the meanings of newly discovered planets - Uranus - The Industrial revolution - technology - French revolution etc. - Neptune - the spiritual awakening of the 19th century and Pluto the discovery of atomic power and the means for our own destruction. Could Sedna - representing the mother goddess - be showing us it is now time to heal the planet and heal ourselves (nurturing, caring for one another ) and transform ourselves - and to be truly reborn into what humanity can really become. Just a thought Gill Dorren |
