OfCom Consultation 2004

I recently received the following from Roy Gillett, President of the Astrological Association, and post it here for your information.

Dear All - I have today received notice from Ofcom that they plan to publish a new code and that a 12 week consolation process has just started and concludes on 5th October 2004.

As with the ITC last year, the period chosen is over the school holidays!!

The consultation document is 147 pages long. Copies of it and further information can be found on www.ofcom.org.uk.

The Association will be considering all this, updating its web page, welcoming all suggestions, planning to submit comments within the twelve week period and encouraging their members to do the same.

Am writing this right away, so you can spread the news around as widely as possible and take whatever action seems appropriate.

The wording of this new code will affect television, radio and advertising. Once it is established, it will be difficult to change. So, right now the future of how the public is allowed to see astrology is very much in our hands.
