As Above, So Below - The Tabula Smaragdina
Alchemy, intimately related to astrology, orients towards the mutual
transformation of consciousness and matter. With Pluto, Saturn and Jupiter
all ‘descended’ into Earth signs after their sojourn in Fire,
planetary energy has shifted towards the palpable, literal and substantial.
We consider the words of the ancient ‘Emerald Tablet’, so
fundamental to the Hermetic arts, and contemplate its alchemical imagery.
Right balance is an important aspect of well-being, and we consider the
alchemists symbol, the Caduceus of Mercury, in this light, as an emblem
of the interchange between ‘solar’ consciousness and its ‘lunar’
counterpart.

Melanie Reinhart was born in Zimbabwe, where she ‘discovered’
astrology in 1959; she has 33 years professional experience in astrology,
offering personal consultations, writing books and articles, and teaching
in a variety of settings. She is a prize-winning Diploma holder of the
Faculty of Astrological Studies, and was awarded the Charles Harvey Award
