Lodge Lecture

Tonight was a night fun and frollicks as Chris Mitchell arrived, respendant in medieval dress as an Astrologer of the times. He had us all sitting in a circle, which was a first for the Lodge. Then he started by showing us what is contained in the tool bag of modern times with all the planets, the aspects, asteroids and all the other psychological tools of today. In the process of acquiring these new tools Chris explained how we had thrown out a lot of very useful old ones in the process.

Then he spread out a large sheet with the Zodiac printed on it and proceeded to bring in a sack with the tools of the Medieval astrologer. So the personal planets were still there and the usual aspects but we do not always use the other tools like peregrination, reception, dignity, derived houses, firdaria, and instead of the asteroids they had Arabic parts! There was a lot of laughter and it made a welcome change from our now oupdated technology. It made us remember where we all came from! A great evening.

Andrew Morton and Tim Metcalfe gave their second talk on Astronomy for Astrologers . Entitled 'Heavens Above' they looked at the night sky, consellations and how to find them, planetary cycles, retrograde motion and lunar phases.
