Lodge Lecture

How nice it was to welcome everyone back after the winter break. We were able to arrange a double session visit for Roy Gillett, President of the Astrological Association, and a trustee of the Jamyang Buddhist Centre in Kennington. First he gave a lecture on Astrology, Karma and Reincarnation. He explained the meaning of Karma from an Eastern and a Western perspective. Then he went on to explain the meaning of the chart and how it is the Karma we are born with and how we can transcend it - or not as the case may be. He showed the charts of Marilyn Monroe, who clearly was born with so many good things in her life, but could not transcend the Saturn in her fourth house and the chart of the Dalai Lama, whose life was anything but happy and culminated in great tragedy at the age of 25. However he did manage to transcend his Karma and created a life which has contained to inspired the world around him. He then looked at two charts of people in the room.

Class

The second part of the class was devoted to Roy and Claire Chandler explaining more about the Astrological Software, Solar Fire. Roy answered several questions from the floor and Claire helped with the technical side of putting it all into practice.

Charts Discussion

We began Charts Discussion 2007 by looking at the alleged chart of Sadam Hussein and looked at the transits of the time of death, to see if we could rectify the chart.

At the time of his death, both Mars and Pluto straddled the ascendant of the day, which we all thought was very apt.

After consideration it was felt that the date of the alleged chart was good but the time given gave a Cancerian ascendant and it was thought that Leo on this first angle would be much more apt for his strong character and looks.

After which we did a personal solar return chart for a member of the audience.

Requests for charts of David Beckham, Kate Moss for next week were given
