Carole WestCharts DiscussionTo start the new term we first looked at the chart of Edith Piaf, whose biopic ‘Le Vie En Rose’ premiered in the summer, and a few of our members had been to see. Edith Piaf, an icon in France, had a most eventful life, to put it mildly; allegedly she began her life being born on a street. Her parents abandoned her to her maternal grandmother for the first year of her life. When she was approximately one year of age her father collected her and left her to the care of prostitutes in a brothel in Normandy. At the age of 14 she joined her father, performing on the streets, and this is where she began to sing. The rest is history really. Becoming one of France's most beloved divas, her most notable songs ‘La Vie en Rose’ and my personal favourite ‘ Non, Je ne Regrette Rien’ Her love life was as famous as her voice. She also discovered Yves Montand and Charles Asnavour. But was voice is what she is remembered for, so powerful and emotional. Mercury trine Mars in the fire element, and Venus sextile Jupiter, gives her the big and profound voice. Jupiter is so strong in the sign of Pisces (symbolising music) and in the fourth house. Moon in Gemini, the home sign of Mercury symbolising her powerful communication, and lying in the seventh house, how she reached out to others with the gift that she had. CHART DETAILS – 19TH DEC 1915 0500 PARIS FRANCE 002E20 48N52 Next we did a chart of Padre Pio, a very holy man, renown for have the stigmata (the wounds Christ received at the Crucifixion, in the hands, feet and side) A Capuchin Monk, he devoted his life to the service of God (it is alleged he decided this at the age of five years) It is also stated he performed miracles and healed the sick, and had visions. It is a chart I had wanted to do for ages, as I wanted fellow astrologers’ ideas on what in the chart could symbolise such connection with the divine. Mars in connection with spiritual Neptune in the seventh house and Venus conjoining Saturn in the ninth house of religion, appear to strongly symbolise his spiritual leanings. Jupiter in the twelfth house, where it is strong by house, and in the sign of Libra, helping others. That is good to begin with. I hope to do more research on this man, so anyone’s feedback or ideas are very welcome. The internet is full of information, especially on the timings he received not only the stigmata but also the transverberation, which is a vision of Jesus spearing the heart of the recipient which symbolises the giving of Gods’ grace and overwhelming love. This vision was also experienced by St Theresa of Avila. (Yes one can see my Moon in Sagittarius trine Jupiter really showing itself here) CHART DETAILS 25TH MAY 1887 16.10 PETRRELCINA ITALY 14E51 41N12 All chart detail sources from Lois Rodden's Website.
