Lodge Lecture | Class | Charts Discussion

Lodge Lecture

We were delighted to welcome Wendy Stacey, chair of the Astrological Association to the Lodge tonight. Her talk was on the transition of Pluto from Sagittarius into Capricorn. She talked extensively about the history of Pluto in Capricorn through the ages. As with all the outer planets, with their long cycles (244 - 248 years in the case of Pluto) the effect is always going to be generational. Pluto in particular takes approximately ten years to go through a sign. The very nature of the planet creates upheaval, destruction and finally change and reformation. Therefore the nature of the sign it transits heavily influences how the world experiences it.

Wendy trawled through years of history showing how this change from Sagittarius to Capricorn created colonialism, industry change, leadership change and scientific change. Issues we faced in this decade in Sagittarius were Global warming, racial/religious wars, epidemic of aids, starvation, economic uncertainty, genetic engineering and over-population. What we now faced in the coming decade would be threat of Economic depression, overstretch of technological advancement, development of genetic engineering, global epidemics and the Colonisation of what? Or whom? The map becomes the territory.

A talk full of data and facts.

Thank you Wendy

Class

The first three classes this term are being given by our President, Claire Chandler. This first week covered the Astronomy angle. The Phases of the Moon, Solar Eclipses, Annula eclipses, hybrid eclipses(Annula from certain parts of the earth and total from other areas) and full Lunar eclipses. These were shown through a series of slides, viewed through our new equipment, courtesy of a Lottery Grant awarded to the Lodge this Spring.

View the slide show here.

Charts Discussion

A new term and new equipment- in charts discussion this evening we used our new laptops and projecter, and it was a joy.

Mainly because by using the Laptops and the Solar Fire Astrology programme - we could not only look at the charts but we could easily do solar arc progressions, secondary progressions and transits. All by pressing a button. If someone in the audience requested a particular progression or chart - press a few buttons and voila!!!

So of course, we looked at the the chart of Tony Blair - especially after the local elections.

We also took a look at the explosion which was Krakatoa, as I had watched a drama programme about it the night before, and all the latest theories as to what caused it.( I also have a Jupiter/Pluto connection in my chart so I am a tad fascinated by natural disasters) We discussed that at the time of the explosion, all the planets were in the western hemisphere of the chart and Jupiter in Cancer was the hook. Showing the massive explosion and the massive tidal waves that followed. It was also interesting that the planets were all within the nodal axis.
