At the Lodge - 5th June 2006

Lodge Lecture | Class | Charts Discussion

Lodge Lecture

Andrew Morton is a Member of the Committee. He also organises the programme for special days throughout the year. This year he is concentrating on the second Astrology and Healing weekend.

His talk, in true Saturnian fashion took over a year to come to the Lodge after several cancellations for several different reasons. However, it was definitely worth the wait. He talked about the Astronomy, the symbolism, the history and the astrology. His use of slides with the most amazing Nasa shots of Saturn proved it to indeed the most beautiful planet in our Solar system.

He then talked about a day trip he made to Saint Guilem-Le-Desert in the Herault region of the South of France and how it turned out to be a most illuminating experience. He told a fascinating story of the quest for wine, a visit to a church, and how the heavens opened just as they reached a certain point in the church where the lightning flashed overhead and shone through the windows. The photos were superb - and so was the story. The Gods indeed came out to play that day.

Class

The tonight was first for the Lodge. We invited Frank Clifford from the London School of Astrology, to lighten the summer with two classes on Palmistry. So this evening was an introduction to Modern Hand Analysis (as it is now called). We looked at two samples of shape and number and quality of lines. He explained that the lines were a road map, an aerial view and described the meaning of the head, life and heart lines as well as the fate line. Shapes of fingers also took on meaning. All have names of the planets.

Next week we will learn how to be Palm Detectives.

Charts Discussion

John Leslie Prescott, born May 31, 1938 Prestatyn Latitude: 53 25 00 N. Longitude: 03 27 00 W ...

I was noted that his birth chart (Noon) had a complete absents of hard aspects. There was general surprise that he had risen to such prominence with such an un-driven chart. Perhaps Pluto 28 Cancer 22 Trine N. Node 26 Scorpio 53, being in the right place to meet powerful people might answer this. The separating Jupiter squ N. Node notwithstanding. The Moon (Noon) in 5 Cancer con Venus 8 Cancer trine Jupiter in 1 Pisces 33, suggested his attraction to members of the opposite sex even if that was not always returned.

It was also thought that Mercury 17 Taurus Trine to Neptune in 18 Virgo had what was diplomatically put as 'the ease of mapulating the truth' so beloved of politicians who are generally seen to be liars. Mars 25 Gemini did not show his legendary temper although it could be considered un-aspect and out of control, but Saturn in 15 Aries with only week SSq to Jupiter and an exact SSex to Uranus 15 Taurus. This gives Saturn little to ground it. A man without boundaries or limits to appropriate socially acceptable behaviour given the recent sexual relegations about him. His plans to 'concrete over' the South East of England, the term green belt meant nothing to him as a boundary not to be built upon. During his time as Environment Secretary in the Department of the Environment he rubber stamped appeals of builders wishing to build upon land that had refused permit to do so by local councils
