Lodge Lecture | Charts Discussion

Lodge Lectures

This week we were delighted to welcome back John Frawley, whose success and travels had taken him away from the Lodge for over two years. He came back with a bang and gave us two wonderful lectures. The first he entitled 'The Nature of the Beast' in which he went on a quest to identify the soul in the chart. This is no mean feat as what we ordinarily know as the chart is in fact representing the boundaries of the body. The horoscope is the self and the nature of everything else around us.

He then looked at the religious background with the first five books of the old testament, with Israel being the soul, the seven tribes as the seven planets.

John explained how Lilley judged a Solar return by placing the part of fortune at the same degree in the return chart as it was in the natal chart. It also does not reverse in a night chart. He also explained how the other key parts (or lots) filled up the soul and created the architecture of the soul. He went over the meanings of the main parts and their relation to the planets. He finally looked at the chart of G.W.Bush in relation to where his main planets were and their conjuction to fixed stars.

The second lecture looked at the chart of William Lilley from every angle and throughout his life. As he saw himself and how that showed in the chart.

You can find out all about John and his work on his website.

Charts Discussion

A small, intimate group this week, as was to be expected with John Frawley taking a class in the other room. As we all knew each other we continued the conversation from the tea break but adding in our charts using the new equipment. I'll keep this anonymous but share the headlines with you.

We started with a man's chart whose current major problem is money. We have a time, given by the hospital, but he's never been entirely happy with it. What we do have is a Sun conjunct Jupiter/Moon/Saturn T-square in the late degrees of mutable which of course is being activated by transiting Pluto in the empty Sagittarius leg. This described his experience quite well - problems with authority, institutions, developing his professional aims and exploring spiritual areas. The Moon/Jupiter square and Venus in Aries we thought may account for the need to have things now. As may Venus and Mars in Aries.

The second chart was for a woman who has been having significant Neptune transits and also has been hit by the transiting T-square - Jupiter/Saturn/Mars/Chiron. Her time is accurate and we explored how exact the timing was and the stunning accuracy of the symbolism. Jupiter is exactly conjunct her Moon in the third and she is having an ongoing dispute with her neighbours, problems with her sister and as Jupiter crosses her IC her loft conversion should be completed - her house, 4th, is expanded. The last chart we shared was for a woman who has Neptune conjunct the descendant and transiting Neptune is beginning to square her many Taurus planets around the ascendant. As Neptune made the exact aspect to her Mercury she took up photography and also has recently put up her fees - Mercury is her second house ruler - but has found it difficult to see any real increase in her income as she seems to be spending more as she earns more. All very Neptune.

The last thing we looked at was the lights coming on during the lecture. As John Frawley put up a picture of the Pope the lights came on spontaneously, they weren't switched on. At 19.09. Which was when the nodal axis crossed the MC/IC axis.
