Lodge Lecture | Class | Charts Discussion Lodge LectureWendy Bristow came to the Lodge tonight to talk about one of my old time favourites - Elvis Presley. (That's giving the age away). The 'King' who brought soul music to the whites in the south, rose to world fame, made films and played Las Vegas. He became a legend in dying relatively young (42). He was born 8th January 1935, 04:35 am . He was the second of twins (Jesse was born at 04:00 am but died ) in Tupelo, Mississippi. The life he showed to the world was very different from the life he led privately. He burst onto the scene in the late fifties , cutting his first record on 8th July 1954 21:45, Memphis, Tennessee and making his TV debut on 5 March 1955. The world's obsession with Elvis began the following year. Meanwhile in his private life his obsessions were to show in many ways. In his chart Sag was rising and he had Jupiter in the 12th house indicating his self undoing by excess. He has Saturn conjunct the Moon in the 4th showing that his mother dominated the home and his life. Wendy showed Gladys' chart as well 25th April 1912, Pontolec, Mississippi. With many planets in the second house showing his talents and Uranus in Aries in the 5th house of youth, ruling his 3rd house. It showed his relationship with the young. His sexual appetite was also to be affected by his relationship with his mother. He refused to have sex with any woman who had given birth to a child. So he brought his wife-to- be, Prisilla ( 24th May 1945, Brooklyn Hospital) over from Germany, where he met her whilst doing his National Service. After she gave birth to their daughter, Lisa Marie , (b. 1 February 1968, 5.01 pm CST, Memphis, Tennessee, ), he did not sleep with her any more. Another strange thing was that he insisted in choosing her clothes and on the day of their marriage where hair was dyed black and they looked more like twins. (Was he trying to create the twin he sorely missed?) His over indulgence with food was analysed after his death and it was calculated that he consumed around 94,000 calories per day. Patti Greenhall brought in a tray of samples of his favourite fried sandwich for us to try (containing banana and peanut butter) . This and his addiction to prescription drugs led to his death on August 16th 1977. It was timed at 10:30 am. (Was he eating for two?) Strangely he died at the same age as his mother died and their deaths were a day apart! Wendy also showed the chart of Colonel Tom Parker, (26 July 1909, Breda, Netherlands, not timed.) His unwillingness to travel prevented his English fans from ever seeing him. He did have a spell when he might have been saved. A chance conversation with Larry Geller whilst having his hair cut in Bel-Air California on 30th April 1964, timed at 16:00, started him on a spiritual journey. He read books on Theosophy and was fascinated by Madame Blavatsky. Unsurprisingly looking a photographs there was a strong resemblance to his mother. Sadly the 'Memphis Mafia', who he indulged for so long with gifts, eventually persuaded him to come back to the fold. Carole WestClassThis was the second week of a series of classes with Claire Chandler on eclipses. Details are on the slide show. Charts DiscussionAgain it was wonderful to use the new equipment as a young lady in the
audience had a question regarding a dispute with her neighbour over boundary
issues, and we did a horary for the moment she asked the question in charts
discussion. We all considered the chart, firstly using the traditional
rules and viewing it as a contest chart ( 1st and 7th houses). We looked
at the two planets involved and then looked with non traditional eyes
too. We gave our decision and was promised by the young lady she would
advise us the outcome to see if our prediction was correct. Gill Dorren |
