So we came to the final day of the Spring Term. It seems to have flown by. Our speaker tonight needed no introduction as he has visited us many times before. This time though he came armed with an MA from Bath Spa. Steve Judd came hoping to produce the result of his research on whether Astrologers worked for the benefit of Royalty. What he thought he would would prove worked out completely in reverse. He believed that Astrologers would work for the good of King and Country. From his research into the facts before and after 400 AD things did not look promising. It seemed that in most instances, Astrologers rose to power in the service of their Kings. Most of them had astrologers, but they were often also their doctors, their herbal advisors, stargazers, Army chiefs, even food advisors.

Henry the VIII had his own astrologers because the Pope hated them. In fact he instructed his bishops not to give the astrologers a hard time. Elizabeth 1 also used the famous John Dee as astronomer, navigator, astrologer and alchemist. Thereafter it seems that successive monarchs had heir consultant astrologers.

Then Steve looked at the famous astrologers who had advised the known Presidents who had consulted them.

His conclusion was that given the heights of power reached by the astrologers there was no astrological evolution through Kings and Queens.

An interesting night tonight. First of all we looked at the chart of the Scottish Smoking ban - 06:00 26 March 2006, Edinburgh.

Then we looked at the Eclipse chart for 29th March at 8 degrees of Aries, followed by looking at how it affected Nigeria, the UK, the USA, Tony Blair and the Treaty of Rome, San Remo, Italy, 11:22, 25th April 1920.

The Lodge reconvenes again on May 8th. Meanwhile we wish you al Happy Easter, or Passover, or any other celebration during the coming weeks and we look forward to seeing you all next term.
