Dorian Geisler Greenbaum is from the USA but is currently here studying for her PhD at the Warburg Institute, University of London, so we are very fortunate to be able to call on her at a moment's notice to come in and give a lecture on her current theme. The Sun, The Moon and the Seven Hermetic Lots. In the West we tend to refer to them as Parts, but in ancient times they were known as Lots. They originated in Greek astrology. In ancient times natal charts were not read in the same way as they are today. People asked questions of the chart and so one would concentrate on certain areas, depending on the questions. Also they considered whether the chart was a day or night chart. The most common one still used today was the Lot or Part of Fortune. It is the Lots of the Moon. The Moon is the body and so the Lot of Fortune has to do with physical plane events. Where you are going to make your money is considered in the 11th house from the the Lots of Fortune. However there are also the Lots of Spirit, Eros, Necessity, Courage, Victory, Fate and Nemesis.

Class

The second class in the series of four by Claire Chandler on the subject of How Strong are your Planets, was once again taken up by going through all of the table of dignities, accidental dignities, receptions and dispositors. Next week we will be looking at charts and putting it all into practice.
