'In Spring a young man's fancy turns to love'
So it was that the Lodge's Spring Seminar should devote itself to looking
at several different aspect of Relationships. The day was well attended
and lunch was once again delightfully served by Gail Cornish.
We would also like to thank those members of the Committee and
the stalwart volunteers who helped to make the day a success. The day
was chaired by Andrew Morton.
The day
opened with a talk by Claire Chandler. Our expectations
of the world form the framework within which we conduct our relationships.
We have to understand our own capacity for relationships before we can
assess how we will relate to other people. So among other factors, Claire
concentrated on looking at a not very often used method of deeper examination
into the personality via the seventh harmonic. This allowed her to looked
particularly at romance.
After
tea we were treated to a talk by Clare Martin, President
of the Faculty of Astrological Studies and a Supervisor at the Centre
for Psychological Astrology. Her talk, which she called Angels and Daemons,
focused on the nodal axis, which she saw as the doorway to the other world,
the soul's inheritance. She looked planets conjunct the nodal axis (forcing
us to remember why we are here,) and aspects,(remember our destiny). She
also looked at the outer planets through the generations for romantic
fantasies.
Lara
Owen took the floor and looked at Astrology and Friendship. Whilst
it is commonly thought that friendships resided in the 11th house, it
is largely agreed that it is only benign relationships, colleagues with
a shared purpose, groups of friends are actually considered from this
house. The 5th housed friends for drinks and good times, the 4th for family
friends ad the 7th for lasting friends. Lara then went on to look at the
signs for identity as friends and transits to the houses indicating the
type of friendships we might encounter.

After
lunch the day continued with a talk with a difference. Judith
Levy heads up a very successful family business and she looked
at the Synastry at Work and the Significance of Relationships within the
World of Business. She looked at the key elements that make a business
a success and the skills needed to deal with suppliers, investors and
clients. Her astrological knowledge gives her a different perspective
on observation of her staff and their work.
The day
finished with Richard Swatton considering relationships
by looking at the composite chart, the chart of a relationship between
two people. It reveals the core of the dynamic between them. Richard went
on to talk about the interpretation of the planets within the chart and
the signs. If you wanted to have a look at current trends you could progress
the charts of the couple and then produce a new composite chart.
The day was a very happy light hearted day and we look forward to our
next event on the weekend of July 8th and 9th.
