Lodge Lecture | Class | Charts Discussion Lodge LectureTonight saw the return of a very popular speaker Richard Swatton. He tackled, what for him, at times, is a very sticky subject. He was speaking of Chiron , the Centaur which lies between Saturn and Uranus. He spoke of the myth of Saturn turning into a horse and roaming the countryside, raping. When he was wounded, it did not heal. So where Chiron is in the chart there is a wound. He asked us to consider masochism a self defeat, sadism - a attack of self/life/others and finally compassion as healing. Only by working with the darkness can you hope to heal the feelings. For instance if Chiron is in a fire sign it can bring about the defeat of ideas. It creates a constant gnawing at life and tears into the system. The placement of Chiron indicates a tear into an essential area of life. Chiron Gemini can mean that your mind is going to let you down. In water signs it can create injury to the emotional side of life. Chiron with Neptune can create addiction. Unless it can be absorbed it will create patterns of pain and self defeat. Check the house placement. Richard is a psychotherapist. So he looks at Chiron from this perspective. ClassThis was the third class in the series on Harmonics. This time we were looking at the 7th Harmonic and were guided through this by Andrew Morton. As with the others we were treated to an excellent slide show (to follow). He presented us with a fine handout of quotations from: John Addey, Harmonics in Astrology, Robert Hand, Horoscope Symbols, David Hamblin, Harmonic Charts, Nick Kollerstrom and Mike O'Neill, The Eureka Effect, Michael Harding and Charles Harvey, Working with Astrology, David Plant, Kepler and the Music of the Spheres, Nicolas Kollerstrom, Keplers Belief in Astrology. His title for the talk was 'Whatever turns you on'. Sometimes you cannot see what inspires a person in a chart until you examine the 7th harmonic, what captivates the soul. "When someone is profoundly moved, inspired, turned on, excited, captivated or besotted with some image or ideal then the mechanism of this inner fantasy is probably at work and projections are actively engaged. This is the circle of the 7th harmonic, where the bas and the numinous can merge; where the noble cause, the highest ideal and the darkest longing are a septile apart. As Astrologers we must approach this chart with respect and caution and be prepared to acknowledge all the riches it contains; for here we are truly walking with the dreams of others" - Mike Harding.
