Astrology and the Healing Arts |
||||||||||||||||||||||||
Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th JuneThis weekend created a milestone in the history of the Lodge. Andrew Morton was charged with organizing this year's Seminars to celebrate the Lodge's 90th birthday. This was the final one of the series and was by far the best. It was a first for the Lodge by going over a weekend, was fully attended and shed light on the Healing Arts. What was so special was that all the contributors were experienced and established Astrologers as well as being involved in their particular branch of therapy. Every speaker presented their work in connection with charts of clients proving how important Astrology was in the scheme of things. Saturday's speakers were Dennis Barker who discussed Astrology with Reiki, Deborah Houlding who looked at Culpeper's approach to Decumbiture with case histories and Lara Owen. Lara looked at Menopause and other midlife transformations. During lunch on both days there was an option of Yoga up in the quiet of the library, which was taken by Laura Boomer-Trent who is also an experienced Astrologer and gave a talk on the subject. Christine Chalklin introduced planetary cycles and Bach Flower Remedies, while Frank Clifford finished off the day with a great talk on Palmistry.
This was followed by a wonderful explanation of Ayurveda and the Planets by Komilla Sutton. Komilla demonstrated single nostril breathing to help combine mind, body and soul. Astrology gives you the constitution and timing of problems. She also mentioned that it helps you to understand creative Karma. There is no such thing as a 'bad' chart. You can work to improve it. She then went on to explain the 5 elements of the physical body with Ohm being the first sound. Most doctors in India also study Jotysh as it helps them understand their clients health.
The second part of the afternoon started with a talk on Crystal Healing. Wanda Sellar brought with her a complete range of crystals. After showing a chart and explaining how she looked at the chart, she then used the crystals to focus on the subtle body. All the Planets were represented by the colours of the crystals. Then she got everyone up to choose one to hold. It was a fascinating demonstration. Sue Thompkins, co-founder of the London School of Astology, gave a well informed talk on Homeopathy. Sue is a specialist in her field. She spoke of the vital force - from prana - and the immune system. She explained how homeopathy treats the cause of the disease. Remedies are made from a variety of substances, the more diluted the better. She showed the chart of a 4yr old boy. Melanie Rienhart closed the day with a look at Chiron/Saturn and the Chakras. She spoke about Metelog - that which is arising. Check when planets station. There will be a display before your eyes in the energy of that planet. So the movements of the transits are the sequence of the body. Chiron opposition Saturn has an inward looking feel to it. She then explained about where Chiron is found and how Saturn influences it by its 7 differently placed oppositions. Here are some of the other pictures taken on the days.
