Lodge Lecture | Class | Charts Discussion Lodge LectureThis weeks lecture was given by Frank Clifford. Next week he starts a marthon of four classes on The Heart of the Chart. At the end of these five weeks he may feel that he has changed sides. He is a tutor at the London School of Astrology and has also written several books. You will find a link to the LSA on our Links page. His lecture this evening was on the M/C. So we looked at the meaning of the M/C, success, image, role models, reputation and status, our game plan, our early aspirations and our parental themes. We looked at the element ruling our M/C and how that can point to how we define success, i.e. earth - cash, air - communication, fire - inspiration and water - personal destiny. The M defines our image in the public domain. Planets on the M/C can show our early inspirations. It wanalso show parental themes such as what was stressed as important, ie. Jupiter - a good education. Frank preferes to use an equal house system as this show a difference between the individual occupation and the deep rooted psychological drives. He also stressed the need to look to the I/C. Claire ChandlerClassThis week was a completion of a series of classes given by Peta High where she returned with the our predictions of the General Election to see if we were right. All of her predictions were spot on. Carole WestCharts DiscussionAn action packed evening. Firstly we did the chart of George Lucas, writer, director and creator of the Star Wars Trilogy, both of them. He has Pluto/North node/Mars in conjunction in the 3rd house, so apt for someone creating the dark side of 'the Force' A Taurean sun sign, with both Mercury/Venus conjunction in the sign of the Bull, indicates (as discussed) his writing style. Neptune is transiting his Midheaven and Saturn will soon be transiting that dark conjunction in his third house, and with Pluto opposing his Saturn 2nd to 8th house, interesting times lie ahead for George. We next looked at the noonday chart of Joseph Campbell, whose writings on mythology inspired George Lucas. He has Jupiter/Sun/Mercury conjunction in Aries and we all thought that described his writings aptly. We then looked at the chart of Mohammed Ali. Leo rising certainly described his character. Moon/Mercury/Venus connection across the 7th house cusp described his popularity and Moon/Mercury may symbolise the fact he has developed Parkinson's disease. His athletic quality -Moon trining Jupiter (6th to 10th house) and of course that Leo rising. For the girls - we looked at the chart of Bruce Springsteen and for the boys we looked at Britney Spears. We are still trying to find the chart of Manchester United, Sir Alex Fergusson and Malcolm Glazer. If anyone has the information for these can you please email me the details (or where I can find them) through the website. It would be so appreciated. Gill Dorren |
