At the Lodge - 7th March 2005

Lodge Lecture | Class | Charts Discussion

Lodge Lecture

It was our pleasure to welcome back a speaker who made her debut at the Lodge last year. Pratibha Paschia delighted us with a talk on the aspects of Pluto to the luminaries.

She started by defining Pluto and how one feels when Pluto takes a hold on your life; the powerlessness of the crumbling of the old order, getting sucked into the black hole, feeling that you have one foot in the underworld and the need to gain back that power.

With the Sun and its placement it shows what you need to fulfil in your individual destiny, so if Pluto emerges from under the shadow then you lose your sense of self. As you progress in life your courage allows you to negotiate with the Pluto shadow but the battle is always a hard one. Often this will take the form of obsession and a successful career. An example of this was Michael Crighton, the writer.

Moon /Pluto seems to set up difficulty in relationships, particularly with women. Again the feeling of powerlessness comes in. Often bodywork, therapy or other methods of releasing the tension benefits the person. Samples of Moon/Pluto shown were Natalie Wood and Steven Spielberg.

Pratibha's lecture had a big impact on several people and there was a request to invite her back again. So what this space and thank you Pratibha.

Class

Thus we came to the last in what has been a wonderfully enriching series of classes from Richard Swatton. He went over the previous weeks to put everything in perspective focusing on the symbols that help us see real life circumstances in the chart. How the symbols can be used for advice and finally this week looking at the psychological way. For instance Mercury square to Uranus could be slightly mad. Psychological astrology makes you look inside yourself. Signs can become behavioural reaction/responses, emotions, attitudes, thought patterns.

He then went on to explain the planets and the transits of the planets, with discussion in the class with members of the audience confirming the reality of these aspects. The horoscope coming first and the transits triggering off what is already there.

This will not be the last time Richard will visit us. We have more plans, again by popular demand. Thank you Richard. See you again soon.

Charts Discussion

Our last charts discussion for this term.
We took a look at the chart of Pope John Paul the second. He has a stelium of planets in the 9th house, which is most apt for a leader of a Church. All the planets are in Taurus including a Sun/Moon which is a just passing New Moon. This would indicate a man who could start new projects, however in the sign of Taurus, it could mean he would keep to the true and trusted. Saturn rising in Virgo, again someone who would step the traditional route. Jupiter and Neptune are conjoined in Leo in the 11th house. So apt for someone with spiritual religious ideas and in Leo, loved being the centre. He is having his second Uranus return which would indicate the changes in his life at present and Saturn is squaring his Mars which as Saturn rules his 6th house would indicate his health problems and show he has had need of surgery. Jupiter will soon come to his Mars later this Summer showing concerns again at this time as Mars rules his 8th house.

We also looked at the chart of the Vatican (7th June 1929 11.00 Rome) Jupiter on the MC again in Taurus, and Jupiter on the 9th house side, not only shows the fact that is is a church but Taurus showing materialism and wealth. There is an ongoing New Moon in Gemini with Mercury close by, in the 10th House, and Mercury rules the chart, showing the administrative quality of the Vatican and the communication required to reach world-wide. The planets lie in a kite formation with Saturn being the hook in the 4th house in Sagittarius, again emphasising that traditional religious beliefs are its foundations.

We then discussed the charts of Lebanon and Syria, looking at the changes happening to those countries. Both had gentle Moons and Venus ruling the charts. We discussed the history of the formation of these 2 Middle East countries and their relationships with Israel, Iraq and USA.

A very mundane finish to the term, chart wise, but never mundane when it comes to the debate.
See you all next term
