Lodge Lecture

It was our pleasure this evening to have Darby Costello speak to us about Pluto in Sagittarius. She began by speaking about Pluto, about Sagittarius and then putting them together.

Pluto, she reminded us, is a transpersonal planet; bigger than any one of us it can lie largely unconscious waiting for us to blunder into it and be overwhelmed. The concepts of regeneration, renewal, power and death which we associate with Pluto work in ways that are bigger than a single person. These are forces which act within society but cannot be contained by an individual. Sagittarius is about ideas, about faith and our world view. Bringing the two together naturally leads us to consider how our concept of faith is being affected.

Darby pointed out that it doesn't matter whether your faith refers to ideas of religion, science, how the world is put together or simply what you expect to happen; these are times when these ideas are challenged and questioned. She pointed out that a very common reaction to these ideas being questioned was to hold on as tight as possible to them. Another is to abandon them and begin the search for something to replace them, a quest - very Sagittarian - if you like. She was very clear that she was unclear on which was the most appropriate response; it may be that better answers could emerge if you held on, she didn't know.

What she was clear on was the we needed to do as much questioning as possible, of ourselves and of our institutions, as was possible; these are the times when new ideas take root. In addition to Pluto being in Sagittarius, Neptune is in Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces; these are all signs concerned with ideas. The last time this happened was during the 1500's and we looked at the charts of Henry VII and Henry VIII to illustrate this. Events and ideas set in motion during Pluto in Sagittarius get absorbed into the fabric of society during Pluto in Capricorn; Luther began the events which lead to the reformation as Pluto entered Capricorn.

As for a way forward, Darby cautioned us regarding gurus and The Truth. Anything which is held up as the Way, the Truth and the Light should be approached with caution. Preaching to large groups picks up the collective and unconscious nature of Pluto and we are swept away. Turn your attention to your own, intensely personal view and then you may be able to make a difference.

The Mars Quartet: Four Seminars on the...

The Astrological Moon

Class

The second class in this interesting series given by Peta High took a look at the chart of Charles Kennedy, his solar return chart for this year and the chart of the Liberal Democrats. His year looks to be good and conclusions were drawn. We will put our predictions forward after the last class.

Charts Discussion

A very up to date week this week We firstly looked at the launch date of The Aurora Cruise ship, the Round The World cruise that went around the Isle Of Wight. It has also been plagued with mechanical problems since its launch on 27th April 2000. Sun square Neptune said it all and Neptune transiting its Moon at 14 degrees of Aquarius. Its Moon also squared Saturn and and also was coming to conjoin Uranus, which highlighted the mechanical problems.

Next we looked at the explosion of Krakatoa, and we discovered that there were many parallels with The Tsunami of 26th October 2004, namely the position of the Moon at 27 degrees of Gemini and the powerful 0 degrees Cancer degree. Moon was conjoined to Mars and all planets were within the nodal degrees with half of the sky empty of the planets, which is symbolic of earthquakes for scientific reasons as well as astrological.

We then looked at the chart of Michael Jackson as he is in the news with his court case, Neptune is opposing his Venus.

Then we looked at the chart of the Liberation of Auschwitz which was such a poignant chart as the Sun opposed Pluto showing the intensity of the moment, and the Moon was so strong in its sign of Cancer and rising - showing the freedom of the people. Venus so strong in its exaltation of Pisces on the Midheaven showing the compassion of the moment.

Next week , Bob Marley (he would have been 60 this week). Syria and Iran (due to Bush and the State of the Union address) It is my birthday - so my solar return and any others you care to bring along, see you next week.
