Lodge Lecture

Pete Watson looked at the lives of various time twins, such as Jarvis Cocker and David Seaman (both tall, meticulous, observant northerners whose careers changed the same year and are now part time TV pundits); Patrick Kulivert and Ruud van Nistelroy (Dutch football's two best strikers and rivals, both of whom play for Premiership clubs in Northern England and are the same height) and Hugh Grant and Colin Firth (born a day apart they play 'two sides of a coin' as the love interests in the Bridget Jones films).

He then examined the time twins of the first airing of 'The Young Ones' and the birth of Lynndie England, the young American woman at the centre of US abuses of Iraqis in Abu Ghraib, Baghdad. Both show a remarkable pattern of factors on the Uranus/Pluto midpoint.

Moving on from this Pete looked at 'astrological twins' with this theme of Uranus/Pluto. He pointed out that there are about 2,000 people born each day in the UK, many of whom do not show common characteristics. This can be explained through Denis Elwell's idea of planetary holons, where themes that show remarkable consistency to an astrology (e.g. lead, old age, skeletons, restriction) cannot be easily understood by non-astrologers, making our connections and concept of 'twin' characteristics hard for the non-astrologer to understand. He showed us that star of 'The Young Ones', Rik Mayall has Uranus-Pluto in semi-semi-square, or semi-octile, or 22.5 degrees apart by a mere 1' of exact. George W Bush has an exact (to the minute) septile (1/7 of a circle between his Uranus and Pluto) with the Sun on the midpoint (as does his time twin, celluloid action-hero and flag waver, Sylvestor Stallone), in fact most of the protagonists in the Iraq war have strong Uranus/Pluto themes at midpoint level, including Dick Cheney the US vice President and terror leader al-Zarqawi. Pete pointed to the theme of 'mindless violence' in these lives and in 'The Young Ones'. He then drew further parallels with the exact Uranus-Pluto semisquare in the chart of Indonesia and the theme of transformation in the life of Madonna, who has Sun on the Uranus/Pluto midpoint.

We then examined themes in the lives of some of the time twins. A list of time twins handed out on the night is available here.

Fascinating information and synastry between people who on the face of it are so diverse. Pete has obviously made a deep and detailed study of this subject. An area where only Astrologers could marry these characters up. Check the link and the link from that page as well. A great evening. Thank you Pete.

Class

Peta High presented the first of a series of three Classes where we are looking at the various combinations of themes, which will help us predict the General election, assuming it will take place in May 2005. We intend to look at the personal charts of the leaders of the main parties, the party charts and the date of the election itself (assuming it is announced before the end of this series). If the election is in the Spring, then it will be governed by passion, if in the Autumn, then it will be governed by anger.

This week we looked at the chart of Tony Blair and compared his solar return with the possible date of the election.

Charts Discussion

First of all we looked at the chart of Albert Einstein, as the Theory of Relativity celebrates its centennial this year. We looked at the chart to begin with and then looked at the chart of the progressions and transits of when he published his paper on the theory and for when he died.

We then looked at the chart of Dennis Potter.

Next we looked at the UK chart (1801) to see the transits which symbolised the 24 hour opening hours and 24 hours drinking plus the furore of the social binge drinking (Neptune on radical Venus in the 5th methinks).

We then looked at the chart of Iraq as the elections were looming this weekend. The Mars Pluto conjunction did not bode very well.

Next week we hope to look at the chart of the cruise ship Aurora, and the Krakatoa disaster along with the liberation of Auschwitz.

See you there
