Lodge Lecture

The Financial UniverseThis evening's talk was the second given on the transit of Venus over the Sun presented to us tonight by Christeen Skinner, who had just hot footed to us from a spot on BBC Radio Cleveland. Although she is an avid technician she wants astrology to be fun and it always is when we welcome her to the Lodge.

The Venus eclipse will take place over several hours. However it began back on 24th April at 26 degrees of Gemini. As Christeen specialises in Financial Astrology she was looking for a fall in the markets on May 17th. In fact the stock market had to close for 20 minutes on that day!.

Venus will station at 9 degrees of Gemini on 30th June (note the date for the hand over of power to the Iraqi people). She will be at odds with Pluto and will have Jupiter in Virgo acting as referee. So how will it effect you?

Like a variation of musical notes all of them will be playing different tunes and the noise will be deafening. Venus opposite Pluto will create stress for Gemini /Sagittarius and will affect all the areas governed by them. Christeen then went on to explain what all the signs were in for and what they should do to remedy it. All should ease up by 6th August. And here I was thinking it was a time of love! Instead we are all going to be stressed out!

The next eight years will bring a new round of creativity, particularly in sport (this year Euro 2004, the Olympics). We will have our artistic buttons pressed by all things mutable. The Cosmic signature will be reflected by the art produced. The evening was great.

Christeen has been working with companies for years and she has now written a book, which can be purchased through Amazon. Click here. The Financial Universe: Planning your investments using Astrological Forecasting.

Santiago Mantas completed a second week of wonderful explanation of how he works with the Fixed Stars. The Constellations move 1 degree every 72 years (Precession). He looked, for instance, at the Black Death, thinking Algol must figure ]in there somewhere, but the best he could come up with was a Comet.

The South Node was, however, on Algol at the time of the Massacre in Rwanda. Algol is connected with losing ones head - so he looked at the chart of Leon Trotsky and the chart of his head. He was killed by losing his head in Mexico City on 20th August 1940. He was born in Odessa on 7th November 1879, at 23:11.

Alcyone (now at 0 degrees of Gemini) is known as the Seven Sisters. It is connected with weather and blindness. 'No light', 'Something to cry about'. The Solar Eclipse of 1993 on Alcyone coincided with the Mississippi river bursting its banks from torrential rains.

He showed the chart of Robert Schumann born 8th June 1810 at 20:38 Zwickan, Germany. He had planet conjoined Bellatrix, a benefic with the nature of Mars, He had Neptune square the Moon on Antares, which could be obsessive. Santiago then demonstrated the romantic side of the stars in his chart by playing a beautiful piece by Schumann on the piano.

Sirius is the brightest star in the sky in Canis Major. When it is at heliacal rising you get the flooding of the Nile in Egypt.

Santiago gave several more example of charts containing many more fixed stars. He is an amazing Astrologer. He is also a professional Concert Pianist. It is a vast subject with so much more to take in than just the nine planets of our Zodiac. Thank you Santiago.

Charts Discussion

Firstly we looked at the science part of the Venus/Sun transit. I talked about the history of the transit. How Jeremy Horrocks was the first man to view the transit in 1639 using his telescope to reflect the Sun onto paper. I also talked about the stories behind the 18th century transits concerning Captain Cook. I also described how they used the transit to measure the distance between the Earth and Sun and the black drop effect.

Then back to Astrology. We began with the charts of both Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. To investigate what these two world leaders had in common and why they had such a profound (allegedly) affect on the world. They had a contact between Margaret Thatcher's Jupiter and Ronald Reagan's Mercury.

So they definitely talked on large issues and I bet she had the upper hand with it being her Jupiter. Her Uranus conjoins his Moon - in Pisces! - a certain unpredictability and excitement here. Her Ascendant is on his Jupiter, so they definitely enjoyed each other's company and they thought they ruled the World together - OK.

Then we did his chart. A likeable man with Sagittarius rising and Moon in Pisces and a wonderful grand trine in the water elements. However with Mars in Capricorn in the first house in opposition with Pluto definitely not a man to mess with. The Mercury/ Neptune opposition shows his acting ability and other intangible qualities on the communicative front.

I liked him - but then his Ascendant hits my Moon - I thought he had a nice smile, but I am no judge of character when it comes to world leaders. I'd better stick to analysing their astrological charts!!

See you all next week.
