Lodge Lecture |Charts Discussion Lodge LectureThis week Gill Dorren gave an account of the trip to Stonehenge which took place last week. "Stonehenge was a unique experience. First of all I told the audience of the whole experience of 21st June, of meeting at Salisbury and travelling to the site and staying up all night to celebrate the Sun/Cancer ingress and then to celebrate the rising of the Sun. It was a very cold night!! We looked at photographs taken of the event. Several of the people who had shared the experience were in the audience and they told of their feelings and experiences. I then talked of the history of the building of this enigma and some of the theories of the building. How it is maintained that the site became a sacred space as man went from hunter/gatherer to farmer. I showed why the area was so important in Neolithic times as its location was so central to both Northern France and central England with its contacts with Northern Europe. I looked at the history in the context of the Age of Taurus, which lasted from 3000 BC to 1600 BC the approximate time that Stonehenge took to complete and looked at Stonehenge in context with what other historical events were happening such as, the building of the Pyramids in Egypt and the advent of writing. Then I then looked at the philosophy of Stonehenge. Was it built as a Calendar for the Sun or was it also built as a Calendar for the Moon? We looked at the sacred geometry of the sight and looked at this in relation to Astrology – which predates the site. How important it was for early Man to know his place in the Cosmos and why? All in all, I found the experience very emotional, the night trip to Stonehenge and the journey of discovery on researching for the lecture. I completed the talk with an excerpt from Joseph Campbell's ‘Primitive Mythology’, where he gives his opinion on why Astrology was so important to early Man. He can be so apt on such occasions." Gill DorrenCharts DiscussionCharts discussion this evening focussed on Bruce Springsteen and the charts of Iraq. Data can be found on our data page. Gill Dorren |
