At the Lodge - 19th July 2004 |

Tonight was a little bit different. Instead of our usual meeting place we spent the whole evening in the function room at the Aristocrat, our usual after meeting hostelry. We had planned to have an astrological quiz as an end of term special and as Gill and I were putting the final touches together we decided that we should give the winners something special. Gill had seen a beautiful armilinary sphere in The Astrology Shop and wondered if it would make a good trophy; I thought it would be a good idea and wondered if we should call it the Olivia Barclay Prize in honour of our departed friend. Four rounds of questions and a set of seen questions sorted the men from the boys. Testing questions on Astronomy, History, Traditional and Contemporary astrology tested all those who took part. Our aim, in setting the questions, was to test as wide a range of knowledge as possible. As president, I am extremely please with the performance of everyone in the astronomy round. This was the highest scoring round and proves that Lodge astrologers are grounded in the knowledge which sits behind the chart diagram. The winners of the Olivia Barclay Prize were Andrew Morton, Santiago Mantas, Derek Norcott and Denise Brown. They will be rotating the trophy between them over the year. The questions were very tough and we thought it would be fun if you could get a chance to see them so were going to put the questions on the site. They should be up in a day or so. Please feel free to just look or you might want to take part as if you were at the quiz but if you do this, please don't cheat! Let us know how you got on and we'll post your results on the site. Have a good summer, Claire Claire Chandler |
