Lodge Lecture | Members' Classes | Charts Discussion Lodge LectureThis week we looked at something completely different. Ancient man, it seems, not only used the stars to forecast battles, but appears to have used the Cosmos and its rhythms for planting the food. Rudolph Steiner used Sidereal rhythms and so did the Romans. Nowadays with science governing everything, the majority of the world's population miss out on the best and most luscious produce because they should have planted by the Moon's phases and on elemental days. Nick Kollerstrom has been researching this method for years. His first published diary was in 1980. Now he publishes this diary every year and this method of planting is used by the likes of Prince Charles on his farms. Simplified, the rules say that planting on Earth days are better for root vegetables, Leaf produce is better on Water days flowers on Air days and fruit on Fire days. Eclipses, when the Moon crosses the Nodes, create turbulent energy and is therefore not good for gardeners. When the Moon is Perigee it is also not good. It was also noted in experiments in Australia that tomatoes harvested at Full Moon were at their juiciest. Other experiments by goat farmers showed that milk and butter were more abundant and better tasting on Fire days. Nick then introduced his graphs, which were produced based on data provided by one of the nation's biggest horse breeders. Mares were generally covered twice yearly in Spring and Autumn. However, the graphs showed that actually the best time for them to be covered was - Full Moon! That is when they produced the best results. The breeders still don't appear to recognise that fact. Check out Nick's website for loads of interesting information click here Members' ClassesSo we came to week three in this wonderful series on Electional Astrology with Pete High. This week we looked at the business of one of our Members. It involves her husband and herself and one of their sons. All three charts blended very well with the chart of the business. They may be looking to sell and we tried to predict a good time. The second case we looked at was for a business that has not yet been formed, so we looked at the syncronicity between the possible partners and the person working for them. That proved to be very interesting too. Next week is the final week. Charts DiscussionAgain a varied week. We began with Mavis showing us the chart of 'Letter from American' Alistair Cooke who recently retired at the grand old age of 95. His career was shown so aptly with Mercury in sextile to Jupiter. Then our President showed us a personal Horary. We looked at the birth chart of Martha Stewart, the wealthy American entrepreneur with a few money worries at present. Moon in Sagittarius in the second house - oh yes - I have that one as well so I know how she feels!!! The Sun on the MC in Leo and Mars in Aries shows her strong character - her need to be her own boss (and everyone elses) and how she loves to be the centre of attention. With Scorpio rising - Mars is co-ruler with Pluto shows again her need for control and perhaps a tad more sensitive than you would expect. With Pluto closing in on her Moon later next year - this will definitely transform her finances. Saturn will also begin to transit her planets in the 9th house which may show legal matters coming to a head - so it gets worst before it gets better?. Then we looked at the chart of the Miners strike of 1984, whose 20th anniversary is looming on 24th March this year. It was well spotted that Jupiter in the chart was exact conjunct the Moon of the 1801 UK chart. Sometimes Jove can be such a bad guy!!! But this could also show how over the top the situation finally became. The moon rules the chart with Cancer rising and it is in Capricorn, weak, this shows the people were weak and completely at the mercy of the Capricornian type Government, well symbolised by the Sun on the MC so strong in Aries. The Moon close Neptune shows the idealism of the workers (represented by being in the 6th house of work and service). The Moon also showed how the women (the wives of the miners) came into their own by all the hard work they gave to keep their families from not starving whilst their husbands were on strike and again Venus (in Pisces) trine Saturn would also show how the feminine was so strong at this time. Mars in Scorpio shows the depth of feeling that occurred all around and could also show a lot of manipulation going on somewhere Also it was pointed out that the Miners' money disappeared. Next week we are doing the Aries ingress for 2004 plus I have asked that people bring charts which didn't quite work out right... Gill Dorren |
