Lodge Lecture | Members' Classes | Charts Discussion

Lodge Lecture

Due to last minute illness Komilla Sutton was unable to fulfil her commitment to the Lodge last night. However Les Bailey, one of our staunchest Committee members bailed us out. He gave a very interesting and amusing talk on how angles, aspects and planetary conjunctions run in families, particularly the granddaughters following grandfathers. He started by showing us the charts of his own granddaughters and how their aspects followed those in his chart. He also looked at how his chart resonated with the chart of Hastings, the town of his birth. (Bernard Eccles spoke of this same link in our Spring Seminar).

It was fascinating to see how these aspects followed down through the generations, which included the children's mother. One of the charts showed absence of father (who was in fact not known). It was also interesting to see how the children were already living their charts. He also put up the chart of his son and his parents.

He finished the lecture with a synastry comparison. With his Moon in the 6th house it had to be the chart of his cat, who is very close to him. Apparently he put little marker tapes on all the kittens born in his house and sent them off to their new homes with their horoscopes. The audience were highly amused and I am now going to look at the chart of my dogs! Thank you Les for standing in at literally a moment's notice.

Members' Classes

Tonight was the last of four classes given by Peta High on Electional Astrology. This week she looked at electing an operation, which again in the real world cannot be done exactly when you feel would be the right time. Both charts were personal. One was for an operation on a relative that is due to take place at the end of the week and the other was two operations that she herself had two years ago.

For surgical you always have to check the planets that represent that part of the anatomy. The surgeon is represented by Mars. Luckily on all these occasions they were being done privately and a time was elected, thought the first of her two operations were delayed, luckily to her advantage.

Finally she showed us a chart that was elected for a wedding where the planets of the two people did not rest well together. The wedding did not take place, though the couple did eventually get married. This was a very good series and very well attended. Peta did extremely well this week, considering she had opened a virus attachment on her computer earlier in the day and crashed her computer. We would like to thank her for all her work.

Charts Discussion

The final discussion for the term. We looked at the chart of the Madrid Bomb - and its comparisons with the Twin Towers. Mercury rises in both charts - which I believe represents the terrorists and the fact they used methods of transportation (Mercury rules short distant and internal travel) With the Madrid bombs - Pluto was on the MC being squared by the Sun of the Ascendant - showing the massive tragedy.

The Madrid Bombs have brought down a government which is so aptly symbolised by Jupiter in the chart, as this rules the MC and there it is so weak in Virgo, in the 6th House and retrograde.

We also looked at the chart for Spain - Saturn will be conjoining it's natal Moon soon - in the 6th house - so difficult times for the services to come. Neptune and Uranus are travelling slowly through the first house - slowly changing the country.

We next looked at the Aries ingress this year which occurs on 20th March at 6.49 am - and there is a dark Moon as the new moon occurs a few hours later. The audience thought this did not bode well. We compared this with the charts of the UK and USA. With the United Kingdom - Saturn is about to transit the MC and then hit the Moon - this looks bad for the government and it looks as we the people wont be having a good time either . Neptune will come to transit the Venus - hmmm - are they going to bring extended opening hours for pubs? - well it may cheer us up and don't we just need it with that Saturn/Moon transit. Uranus has passed the Pluto (phew!!!) and Pluto has passed Mercury (I still have my ideas about big brother on that one).

With the US -- well there were slight debates on the chart itself and whether we should look at different times for the foundation of the US, however, looking at the 1776 chart we see Jupiter coming slowly to the Neptune in the 9th house - so we all thought that the US will start becoming more outwardly religious than it already is and this has been assisted by Saturn transiting its Jupiter in the seventh and will slowly come to its Sun - the ruler of the 9th house cusp.

We then discussed the discovery of the new planet Sedna.

So the next chart discussion will be in the Summer term - and already (and keeping with the religions tone) I have been requested by many people to show the chart of The Christ - a date and time having been discussed on a recent BBC Radio 4 programme.

Look forward to seeing you there
