All enquiries can be made to her on email. Carole WestClassBernard Eccles gave his second class on Heaven and Earth: Rediscovering the Planets and the Seasons. He explained, by drawing diagrams about the stars and their positions around the celestial equator and the planets which are close to the ecliptic. The celestial equator runs through Orion's belt, so it rises at this time of year (firing at Taurus) in the night sky. Then it was time to get on to Sysygies - the first order of recurring cycles, conjunctions, which were discussed at great length. Then he went on to second order recurring revolutions with all the planets and referred to Ptolemy's handy tables and Ptolemy's Almergast. More next week. Carole WestCharts Discussionto follow |
