Lodge Lecture

This was the week that should have featured Jenni Harte who unfortunately had serious family problems and was unable to attend. We wish her well and look forward to welcoming her again in the near future.

Steve Judd, who has bailed us out more than once and who is also going to be featured in our Spring Seminar, filled in the gap with a Lecture on 'The World Today'.

Steve blew our minds with a huge number of charts and his own comments on each of them, as well a good few predictions. He describes himself as an 'Eschatologist'. He put up the chart of Great Britain for 1801, then proved that in fact the chart of 25th December 1066 actually meant more to us. He promised us a wonderful period for all of us end August/September.

He went on to look at the chart of the USA. His views are that because the USA does not have any roots (their natives having been almost extinguished) in five years time they will be forced to consider a major change in the way they run their affairs.

Iraq is experiencing Pluto transiting natal Saturn, bring big problems. However these could ease end May, beginning June. Israel is in for internal changes in 4/5 months.

Then Steve looked at the charts of the people involved on the world stage, George Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, Ariel Sharon, Saddam Hussein and Tony Blair. You can contact Steve Judd on his website. We would like to thank him once again for kindly standing in at the last minute.

Members' Classes

This was the final week of the classes by Richard Swatton. He went over all the things we had covered in previous classes, then drew up the chart of the United Nations. From what we saw the chart is brilliant for preventing wars, secret deals, co-operation and hope, except that with Mars in Cancer which is vulnerable and afraid of attack in the 4th house, conjunct Saturn in detriment, prevents it from having the courage of its convictions. In face of fear, like the crab, it retreats into retirement. With its current transits of Pluto opposing the Moon/Uranus conjunction in Gemini it will be bring down some of the idealism and the destroyer of illusions will force it to change. It was so informative and made everything real for me at least.

Charts Discussion

Chart discussion was really an extension on the excellent main lecture given by Steve Judd, on the state of the world at present. Firstly I managed to get an event chart of the news of the Pneumonia type illness, which is being spread world-wide by travel and the concern it is causing. A Singaporean doctor was taken off a flight at Frankfurt suffering from the symptoms and I got the timing of the landing of the flight at Frankfurt and produced the chart. Was it a naturally occurring disease as reported on the net or man-made? We winced as we saw Uranus on the MC in Pisces. The Moon having just left the planet, which represents long distance travelling, was opposing the planet Neptune, which represents toxins, drugs etc. sitting in the 9th house, which again represents travel. Enough said we all thought.

We looked at the chart of the European Union, and with Leo rising the Sun ruled the chart however it was weak by both sign and house, close to Pluto, this emphasised the power struggles. With the stellium of planets in the 3rd house of communication, in the sign of Scorpio, this highlighted, again the rows which they would have about all that 4th house stuff, the land, the borders and probably indicated the different languages.

Then we looked at the chart, which was quickly drawn up, of Bush's pending declaration of war which was to take place at 8 pm Washington time 18th March. Mercury leaving the square of Pluto, on the previous Sunday more than described the War council in the Azores and now it was squaring up to Saturn, the end of diplomacy. We all felt that the never-ending Jupiter/Neptune opposition is causing the confusion and chaos that we are seeing and feeling with world-wide events at present. Hooray!!! When it finally passes.

We finished by having a quick look at the chart of Zimbabwe, which really has a lovely chart. We didn't have time to look at Mugabe - that's for another time.
