Lodge Lecture | Charts Discussion Lodge LectureCarrying on traditionally in the variety that is the Lodge, this week found us in the capable hands of Patti Greenall who is no stranger to us. Her talk was entitled The Power of Gems. Intimate self-knowledge is a must, and of course, astrology is the best tool to gather this knowledge. One's intuition and even physical reactions will also tell, whether a certain stone should be worn, or to work with gemstones, or not. The natal horoscope's basic blueprint can never be undone, but good quality stones can be used to fortify the weaker planets in one's chart. Generally, the stone's colour indicates its planetary ruler (for example, red>Mars, white>Moon, etc.), but there are exceptions. Among the gems Patty passed around, for example, there was a fluorite sphere. Fluorite comes in a spectrum ranging from pink to purple to blue and green and would therefore be ruled by Venus or Jupiter, but the structure, density and weight of fluorite indicate Saturn as its ruler. Patty also presented us with the horoscope of Evelyn Walsh McLean, last private owner of the hope diamond (01 Aug. 1886, 4:30 pm, Denver, Co, USA), who ascribed her misfortunes to the influence of this famous gem, but would probably have thought differently, had she only known her own, rather conflict ridden chart. Helene SchnitzerCharts DiscussionThe Weekend that wasAs an Astrologer looking at the aspects for this last weekend, I could predict the worst. Full Moon on Uranus, Mars conjunction Pluto and Jupiter retrograde opposing Neptune. Chaos, confusion, death, disaster, mayhem, you could put these words to these planets and their tough aspects. Especially if you look at the chart of the moment of the full Moon and with Scorpio rising, Mars and Pluto rule the moment. Yes you would expect a weekend horibilis. So what did occur over this aspect fest of a weekend? Hans Blix delivered his report to the UN regarding the weapons inspection of Iraq On Friday 15th February. Peace rallies world-wide against war with Iraq, the largest in London, estimated at 2 million on Saturday 16th February. Then Monday morning, 17th February - the Congestion charges began in Central London. Chaos and mayhem was predicted and not just by Astrologers. At Chart discussion we not only looked at the full Moon chart 16th February 23:52 to see what the planets were telling us, but we also looked at the charts for the events. First the chart for the time Hans Blix began his report to the UN. It was discussed that Mercury on the Midheaven in Aquarius is so apt for a man in authority giving his speech. Jupiter in opposition in Neptune again 4th to 10th House shows the enormous confusion going on and will do so until Jupiter passes this opposition in the Spring when it has began to move forward and opposes Neptune yet again. Venus ruled the chart and was sitting in the lucky 11th House in Capricorn. The peace march in London, the following day, was one of the biggest ever and there were several people at chart discussion who went on the rally and they stated it had begun at 11.45 am although it was not supposed to begin until 12.30 pm This was due to the sheer volume of people, aptly shown by the Moon conjunct Jupiter. 24 deg Gemini Ascendant had Saturn rising and this gave body of the rally a sombre and peaceful atmosphere, which was confirmed by the press and by people in our audience. One observer stated that the police in droves were parked around the Mayfair area as if waiting for the riot that never occurred and funnily enough there was Pluto conjunct Mars in Sagittarius in the 6th House of service, the villains so to speak, but with Saturn in opposition to them and Jupiter in wide trine, it was discussed that the luck and goodwill were with the marchers. Monday morning at 7 am the Congestion charges started, and everything appeared to go smoothly for the first day (although a few days on computer glitches are apparently appearing). Aquarius rising and the Sun in conjunction with Uranus shows the surprise of it all. It was stated by a member of the audience you could avoid the charges by driving a solar driven car or an electrical car. Well perhaps with the Sun/Uranus rising new innovative ideas for avoiding the charges will eventually come about. As it was half term and no school runs children en mass helped the quiet atmosphere. Mars ruling the 3rd house and 9th house of learning coming into opposition with Saturn may have quietened things down. The main consensus of opinion was that although aspects over the weekend were pretty nasty Jupiter has yet to finish its opposition to Neptune and these 2 planets on their own are causing enough confusion and chaos world-wide with things not quite going the way they should. I pointed out that there may have been no chaos in London, but on the east coast of the US there was, due to the winter blizzard. Flights out of Heathrow to this area had been halted causing all sorts of problems for travellers, again a surprise! We are still living in interesting times. Watch this space.'
