Lodge Lecture | Members' Classes | Charts Discussion Lodge LectureWhat a difference a week makes in the life of the Lodge. Last week we were looking at the mystical and the journey of the soul. This week we were looking at a game of two halves - "The Astrology of English Football" by Bethea Jenner. First Bethea looked at the history of violence connected to football, which believe it or not was around even in the 13th century. The first football was a pig's bladder filled with water. It was a fight between 2 rival villages and eventually banned by Merchants in 1340. In 1905 several thousand were hurt at a football match in Glasgow. We were shown the chart of the Football Association and several other charts which were connected in some way to events involving England. Many footballers have their Sun in Leo or Capricorn. We were also shown the charts of the Heisel and Hillsborough stadium disasters. Then Bethea looked at the money in football, with the chart of when the Premier League was formed. The World Cup was conceived in 1928 and the first competition was played in 1930 between England and America, which of course, we lost. Bethea then put up the charts of Bobby Moore, Maradonna, David Beckham and Sven Gorren Eriksson. Bethea Jenner currently writes a column in the football magazine 4-2-2 and she is also writing a book on 'The Art of Astrology'. Members' ClassesLesson number three from Richard Swatton showed us how all the planets and the signs are working together as a whole in the chart. We have to learn to ask questions of the chart. Get the feelings from it. When working on transits and progressions, work on one planet at a time. Again we looked at the sun as an example of how the more we shine, the more we become ourselves. The sign it is in gives it and character. Its placement in a house, how our mind conjures up our experiences. We do certain things in the sectors. Internal and external. Inner and outer environment. Where the action is. The moon is a reflection of the sun, a satellite of the earth acting as a protector filtering the sun's energies. The sun is the purpose, the moon the distributor. Then we went on to look at the planets in the signs and eventually some of the aspects the planets. The explanations in these lessons were quite profound and were so well explained. Our last lesson next week. Carole WestCharts DiscussionMavis Klein began the evening showing us the chart of the moment when the DNA double helix was discovered. It was an approximate time. However I thought it was apt that Gemini the double sign was rising and we all thought that Pluto on the IC in Leo, showing the very foundations of life being transformed. An eventful evening, then ensued, as we celebrated the Uranus ingress in Pisces at 20.52. We obviously looked at this chart and looked excitedly at the fact that this ingress causes a T-square with the nodes. Simon Posner had pointed out at the north node is conjunct its degree of exaltation of 3' Gemini (according to William Lilly). As Uranus was in the 5th house, a new form of art or music was predicted. We also looked at the charts of both Adam Faith and Barry Sheene who had died the day before. Unfortunately we did not have times for both. The chart of the United Nations birth brought forth discussions on coming events. Saturn is transiting the Moon of the chart, aptly in the 3rd house showing the difficulties in the communications of the UN. The stellium of Jupiter/Venus and Neptune in Libra in the 6th House would indicate that the UN would want everything to be rosy and works for that. Mars rules the chart but it is weak by house and sign and conjunct Saturn. Sun is in Scorpio in 7th house indicating secrets and open enemies. Finally we looked the charts of Tony Blair and George Bush. Poor Tony, Neptune is transiting his Moon, and Pluto is trining his radical Pluto 7th to the 5th house. All sorts were recommended here. Jupiter, in late Spring will transit Pluto, so watch this space on that one. Uranus is conjunct his Part of Fortune!!! Maybe, he will survive!!! A good political debate had by all. Gill Dorren |
