Lodge Lecture | Charts Discussion Lodge LectureI pressured Sue Tompkins to give this lecture, knowing that there would be others, like myself, who had not yet had the pleasure of hearing Sue go through her explanation of Aspects. She has been teaching for over twenty years and was originally a tutor for the Faculty. Now she has her own school in partnership with others at the London School of Astrology. (See our Links page). Her book, Aspects in Astrology, has just been published again. Tonight she surpassed herself. She spoke of the chart and its planets (characters), the signs they appear in (costumes), and the houses (where the drama takes place). She described the aspects as the dialogue and the action. Her description of the aspects were that the hard aspects - the opposition and the square are really the most important as they are life's challenges. The easy aspects, trines, will pass with ease and therefore not make such an impact. She covered all other aspects, as well as transits, progressions and directions. She made it sound so easy - but then she has been teaching for a long time. Our thanks to her for making things so clear. Carole WestCharts DiscussionA very interesting week on the charts discussion. Firstly Santiago showed a chart of a married couple from Spain who were involved in a gas explosion in their house (and survived in spite of a lot of damage). Neptune and Mars were most definitely involved. The we looked at the 3 event charts of the power failures in New York, London and Italy with hilarious stories on the events. We all concurred - 'twas the Jupiter/Venus/Sun conjunction in the New York/London all opposing the Mars and Jupiter/Mars opposition in the Italian Job. Then we looked at the chart of Iran and Syria. The Syrian chart was especially formidable, with a plethora of planets in the 12th house and Moon conjunct Saturn in Taurus in the 6th house. A political/astrological debate ensued which I believe will be carried on next week when we will again look at the chart of Iraq and Israel. Gill Dorren |
